Steven Maynard, MD, is a board-certified OB/GYN serving patients at Rainier OB/GYN in Tacoma, Washington. He values the trusting relationships between himself and his patients and makes every effort to provide compassionate, modern, and client-centered care.
Dr. Maynard has professionally cared for women for over 25 years. He trained with midwives at Brown University's Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island , and consistently supported hospital-based and community midwives throughout his career.
Dr. Maynard is adept at helping women with breech babies and twins. He is also skilled at assisting women with high-risk pregnancies and those who seek a more natural path to childbirth. Dr. Maynard is especially supportive of women trying to achieve a normal delivery after a previous cesarean birth.
He is proficient at performing minimally invasive gynecologic procedures. Formerly at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Maynard was the first gynecologist to perform robotic surgery in that institution.
Recognizing that most gynecologic surgery is best performed without a large abdominal incision, Dr. Maynard strives to avoid these, as recovery is much easier and risks much lower using minimally invasive techniques.
He also helps women suffering from fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fertility issues, abnormal periods, family planning, and other gynecologic problems.
